Project Description

Save the Lahaina Yacht Club

An International Campaign to Rebuild After the Maui Wildfire

Aloha,

As you may know, the historic Lahaina Yacht Club was completely destroyed by the devastating wildfires that swept through the Lahaina community on August 8, 2023. The club has been a beloved gathering place for sailors and boating enthusiasts since 1965.

The Lahaina Yacht Club has always been a place where members and visitors alike come together to share their love of the ocean and boating. It’s a place where friendships are forged, memories are made, and a sense of community is fostered. The loss of this cherished club has been deeply felt by all who have been a part of it.

Just a few weeks after the wildfire, the Spirit of Liberty Foundation immediately initiated a fundraising campaign to support the Club and its affected employees. In a short time, the campaign has raised nearly $200,000 from Yacht Clubs across the country and other donors contributing the urgently needed funds.

Now we’ve created “Save the Lahaina Yacht Club” Auction

The Lahaina Yacht Club in partnership with the Spirit of Liberty Foundation, is organizing a major unprecedented auction(s) to raise the desperately needed additional funds to restore the Club to its former glory, and ensuring that it can continue to serve as a hub for boating enthusiasts in Lahaina for decades to come.

The auction(s) will involve:

– Contributions from the yachting industry, including boat charters, yachting/boating products and services. Artistic contributions, including original artwork, and paintings.

– The prestigious Yachting Magazine and their other boating publications will be participating to support this effort.

– Participation and promotion by yachting legends, America’s Cup participants and celebrities, such as HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco.

– A special emphasis for the theme “Islands Helping Islands” with participation of Yacht Clubs and tourism boards, for islands in the Caribbean and around the world, such as the Kingston Yacht Club in Jamaica and Monaco Royal Yacht Club in Monaco.

– A prestigious collection of high-profile, limited-edition clothing items.

– Potential support from Hawaii’s Governor, Josh Green the First Lady, and other prominent Hawaiian/local residents.
